Caves of Fumane

Description

The Grotte di Fumane in Val dei Progni was discovered in the 60s by the archaeologist G. Solinas and is currently one of the most important monuments of the early history in the region.

It is a place of great interest for understanding the biological and cultural changes about 40,000 years ago that had a great impact on human evolution. There are many archaeological things that provide an idea of ​​the flora and fauna in this area.
Most important are the painted walls called "Shaman" which is considered as the oldest manuscript in Europe.

The cave is part of the regional park Lessinia and offers visitors a fascinating journey in which it is possible to understand the morphology of the cave, the stratigraphic sections and structures of the Paleolithic.
